LIMELIGHT in SAN ANTONIO

last wednesday i performed at limelight for the first time. i hadn't played a show in san antonio since a house party last year.

the show went really well! everything was a little shakey at first, but it all smoothed out after the first couple of songs. we recorded some of the set, as well as video recorded. we're uploading one right now, so i'll post it whenever it gets done (if it's before i fall asleep tonight!)

SAD EYES MUSIC VIDEO SHOOT

yesterday we went over to jessica & trinh's house to shoot the video. we have been talking about shooting this for a while, and we finally had the time to.

caitlin had the idea to shoot it framed just from my shoulders up & have 4 tv screens behind me all hooked up to a different camera that would each be shooting different sides of my face. awesome!

we went over on sunday night to test out the 2 televisions she had in her room.

we were having so much fun playing with the feedback and the colours on the tv, everything seemed to be working fine. THEN! one of the tvs made a hissing & pop noise and then this thick white smoke started coming out! eeccchh. matthew unplugged it and took it outside. the smoke smelled so strong & harsh, after a while it made my stomach hurt.

so we were down 1 tv

we went yesterday around 4 to jessica & trinh's & took everything out around 7ish

we waited for mat to get out of work because he had the table in his car & we needed it to set up the tvs. we burrowed jessica's tv to make up for the one that blew

it was dark, cold & muddy outside. we kept stepping in all this mud while setting up.

jessica did my hair. she curled it & it looked so nice. i put on my lashes & caitlin did my eyeshadow & red lips.

all the digital cameras we were going to use to shoot kept dieing while caitlin was trying to get the shot & lighting just right. it was really annoying, but it just make great smoking breaks! we were finally able to do about 4 run throughs, enough to have different shots to cut up the video.

i'm very happy with it & it feel great to finally have it done. caitlin will work her magic & make it look great, i know it.

i hardly ever update because i hardly ever do anything. i'm working on getting re-inspired, i think i might almost be there.

BUT! i'm doing a live performance this thursday, the 15th for Wish. It's going to be @ Sixth Lounge, i've never been there before. I'm pretty excited because i would like to start playing more shows. i don't know what to expect from the crowd, so that's the only thing that is making me unsure. other than that, i'm pumped

Today i'm doing the weekly party at Wish. I'll be deejaying from 2-6 while they're having an awesome sale in the whole store. then i'm leaving @ 7:30 to go set up to play on the American Apparel rooftop! (on south congress for first thursday!)

i'm pretty excited, i've never played on a rooftop before. i've passed by the store, and i remember thinking it'd be really awesome to play up there. i'm so glad he's getting me all these shows to play! i'm finally doing a lot more with my music. now the only thing to think is...what am i going to wear tonight?!

i won't be doing a dj set, i'll be doing a live performance on the outside stage. i'm excited to play my 2nd show with metal bunnies. our first show together was in september 2007 on the Lamar Bridge, crazy huh? i think it was even metal bunnies' first show ever

it's going to be may 8th at United States Art Authority by Spiderhouse!

metal bunnies are courtney, alex & caitlin. they were broken up for about a year and suddenly got back together again. caitlin showed me some of their songs, so i can't wait to hear them live. they're not just metal, but pop punk too ;]

alright, i know i haven't been updating this in a while, only because i haven't even been doing anything in a while. i was beginning to think "why am i even still trying to make music? i don't do anything with it, i don't play any shows" and i'm still a little unsure about it. i'll see how it all goes this year. i played at elysium a few weeks ago with mom&dad, dubbel dutch, deejay yayyay & shooknite. i played 2 new songs. it sounded very good in the club. but not a lot of people to hear me.

a guy named beef of high society has been getting me all these shows to play. i played last friday, at back alley social (the old whiskey bar). there were lots of bubbles and a strobe light, it was awesome. he got me a monthly at there and i'm playing his birthday party this saturday night at creekside & he told me to keep my plans open to play a huge party/show on the 4th of july. i'm pretty excited about this all. it actually makes me want to make more songs, do more things, try to get a label to sign with, and try to promote myself.

I'm pretty excited about SXSW this year. I didn't get asked to play as many shows as last year, but that's fine with me. I'm playing at Red River Cafe on Thursday. I was so so determined to make some new songs for the show. It took me a while, but i got to record them a couple of days ago, and now mat's working on them. I know we're cutting it short, but i guess that's how it always is :]

We had the last OH PIMP at Black & Tan last friday. Well, we didn't even get to finish, since we got kicked out. We heard the new management was planning it anyway. Right before deejay yayyay's set. They probably just didn't want to pay us also, who knows. I was really upset and wrote a bulletin on myspace about it. i never write bulletins.

They were so rude, unfair and just plain assholes.
Enough of that crap though.

I'm planning on making new songs before SXSW, we'll see if i can make that happen. I've been totally stuck for a while. No inspiration i guess. i want to write at least 3. Mat's still working on producing my newest one. i can't wait to use that new mic i got for christmas

i recorded a song tonight!! i'm so glad, becuase it's been so hard to think of things to sing about..

i wrote the song like last month & had matthew help me think of what else it should have. so we finally finished it tonight, becase i forgot about it for so long. and it actually sounds really nice, i like it.

i don't know what it's called yet, but so far it's "i'm your star"

OH PIMP#8 was a lot of fun. i had a really good feeling about it all day & was really looking forward to playing outside. they had it decorated really nice with this huge bridge of green & blue balloons & Camel signs lit up by blue lights. It wasn't as cold as i expected & i was really glad they had a couple of heaters outside.

I practiced a little @ caitlin's apartment before heading over there. I heard the reording from last week's OH PIMP & i sounded horrible! haha, i should really get a professional mic. the one we use was given to us like 3 years ago. it was in this huge box full of like 500 of them in these cheap plastic wrappers. it's really sensitive & feedsback way too much.

we rented a mic from rock & roll rentals for a month, so hopefully i'll get to work on writing & recording some new songs. i have one half written.

We released at the video release party last month in October, but totally forgot to mention it! But we did raffle one off, heh^-^

I'm selling them for $8, i though $10 would be too much, and i'm splitting it with caitlin-who made the video, so it's $4 for each of us

I totally thought this was me in the paper when i met matthew from work. I thought, what am i doing in the paper?! but it totally isn't me, but even i have to admit we look a lot alike! AND WE ALMOST HAVE THE SAME BIRTHDAY TOO! she's just 6 days older than me, haha!

is that auto tune i hear in the begining?! ayiee! she even has a sparkly microphone, and those awesome glasses, AND! in the Just Dance music video, she's wearing glasses just like mat's!

I was browsing through all my old pictures on my laptop from last year & i can't believe that a whole year has passed by when i showed off my new tummy toast sound on the lamar bridge! i remember i was so excited about it because i hadn't showed anyone or mentioned it. people were expecting me to show up with my usual keyboard & toy tambourine, but instead they got a glammed out girl with auto tune

it's funny that i'm still playing all the same songs also. i've only been able to come up with 2 new ones, and they're still pretty old to me already -Fashion Avenue & Magic Moves. It's hard to make songs when i'm not sad about something. Maybe when we move back down to the valley i'll make more, haha

The other night caitlin & james came over to mine & mat's apartment to film "The Girl Behing the Toast" for the DVD. I'm so bad at talking. i really am. i think it's a serious problem. It took like 7 takes for me to get through everything i needed to talk about. haha, and it didn't help that all the attention was on me, it made me so nervous, so i came out real slouched down & doing nervous things like brushing my hair with my hands, not looking at the camera, getting me words mixed up, and looking awkward.

We went to caitlin's last night & she edited everything and gave it her shine & made it look perfect. i can't believe that it's actually done! we've worked on it for so long- more caitlin than anyone. she's taken so much of her time learning to do things, making calls to loeshe (sp?), editing & cutting up & drawing & filming & doing everything she can to make me look good. and it's all TOTALLY AMAZING!!!

I want people to buy the CD/DVD combo we make. i want caitlin to get money for all this awesome work she's done, she totally deserves it. i would like to give them away to all our friends, but eventually we want to make money for these things, so i hope i don't give in to my over niceness and just hand them out..I WON'T!

It would be so awesome if Black & Tan had a drink special for the Tummy Toast performance like $2.00 Fuzzy Navels or my favourite drink Amaretto Sours, mmmm!

IT'S FINALLY HERE!! yes!! we've been working on this video for a real long time and caitlin has totally made it look awesome!

i made this huge diamond last week to pose with for the cover of the glam jam dvd/girl problems cd! i'm really proud of it because it turned out real good. matthew took pictures also, and it was so hard to choose one, but caitlin helped.

we're going to have the video release on OCTOBER 3RD!!! at BLACK AND TAN on 7th!!! i'm so excited for it! it's going to include the girl problems, 2 remixes of glam jam, the music video & a poster! yayayayy!!

On the 5th, i got a phone call from Dj ORION asking me if i'd like to open up for STEED LORD @ beauty bar the on the 6th, so duuuh, of course! i was so so excited, but mat didn't have a chance to come up with a new set, but i don't think anyone cares, haha. but here's the flyer:

we got there around 10:30 and ORION was djaying, and i really can't believe how good he is..he played this awesome remix of the snow white whistle song, and i still can't get it out of my head, i really want to hear it again, but i have no idea who did the RMX & i'm way too shy to ask him, haha. hopefully i'll accidently find it one day

i wore this yellow dress as a shirt w/shorts-because it's so short-that i got at WISH for $10 and my favorite necklace right now that i also got at WISH

it was a lot of fun, i had james & caitlin on my guestlist, so they got in for free, and it was so awesome that it was 18+!

i was so happy to see sonny & jackie there too! those 2 are the sweetest

i didn't see STEED LORD though, because caitlin got kicked out for wiping her Xs off her hands and getting caught drinking..but it was so wierd because someone bought her a drink & she was carrying it around sipping on it without a problem. i feel like it was my fault though. & there was no way i'd leave her alone outside of beauty bar so matthew packed up the stuff & we left home

matthew lost his sunglasses there that night, but i bought him new ones

then on saturday was the RAVE TIL DAWN house party/show in San Antonio at Liz & Denise's house. Their kitchen was so cute! i never got to officially meet them though, but they seemed real nice

trash stache didn't get to play though, i was sad because i was really looking forward to it! next time though

i finally got to see max ferrari mix and it was totally worth the wait

the cops came and the show got moved inside where it would be a little quieter for the neighboors. i think it was a good thing though!

laresa's birthday/house party was totally the best of the summer. james totally brought the booties bumpin & caitlin's visuals on the ceiling lit up the room. everyone said my set sounded really good & i'm real happy about that.

a fight broke out during my set! haha there were so many people that showed up that i actually knew! i was real happy & suprised ;]

tonight is going to be awesome! james & chris will get to play their whole set this time, not like last night @ beauty bar. it's going to be tons of fun! + shiny kid's visuals? like, duuuh~ she totally rocked the visuals last night with that sweet projector she rented, especially in that awesome high-waisted moschino skirt she got in prague

i heard my set sounded good, so i'm very happy about that. the mic we rented is awesome! i totally need to buy one. it never bothers me when there isn't anyone in the crowd when i'm singing, but last night i felt a little dumb. but whenever i looked at my friends, i forgot about it & smiled

i don't have a lot of pictures from last night, so i'm going to see if i can get some from caitlin or mitchell for my next post.

tonight is going to be amazing though, and hopefully drinking won't make me think too much again.

i love my matty, he does everything for me!! he's my producer, boyfriend, everything. he is a real big part of Tummy Toast, but Tummy Toast just refers to me. we aren't actually a "group" or anything. Tummy Toast is just a girl^-^

i just think it's really wierd when we're introduced as a group or duo or band, because we're definitely not. tt=jordo. i guess it's just something i've had on my mind

but i have good news! i was asked to play an august weekly @ WISH! it's going to be every thursday & i'm so excited! lots of things going on in august for me..like moving and the weekly, but i guess that's not really "lots", haha

james & chris & devanee came to be dancers! i was so glad to see them there. i also got to meet some new people that were also dancers, everyone was so nice!

i brought like 7 different outfits & took picutres of me wearing them before we got there so johnny can tell me which to wear

i also brought me make-up kaboodle & accessory kaboodle. i really missed caitlin though! i tried to do my makeup sorta like she might've done it, but i think i failed, haha. but devanee was there to help me out :]

business cards

matthew made an awesome business card for me.

he's so good at designing, i wish he could find a job doing that or something~

i just need to figure out where to print them!

I'm going to use them to send to other stores owned by Wish in other states along with my CDs for their stores~ awesome huh?!

AND i'm also going to be involved in this awesome cable access tv show with johnny. it's going to be sorta like top of the pops, i'm so excited!

Toast Earrings!

I found the best toast earrings, totally made just for me :]

They were waiting for me in a little baggie at Savers, mat found them & showed them to me, so i totally HAD to buy them, duh

PLUS! i got them for free, since mat found this coupon booklet thing at Savers saying if you buy 4 items, you get one free^-^

i recorded a new song a couple of days ago, and right now mat is making a business card for me, because one of my managers at Wish asked me to make her some cds with cards so she can distribute them to all their stores in other states plus the new ones they're building!

she even mentioned something about maybe one day, if i make a lot for them continuously, they can even pay me, woah, that would be so awesome, but pressure! ayie!, haha, but maybe that's just what i need to get up and start making new songs faster~ i'm so slow!

Jackie's 21st Birthday Party

okay! i played a show for Jackie's birthday party, she's a totally sweet girl & so cute too! it was tons of fun. the fridge was full of lonestar & there was a pinata packed with yummy candy.

c-love lent us his amp & mixer & everything sounded great. james even bought me & mat a sparks to share, he's so great.

everything was so fun, i played and danced w/jackie and had a real good time. i just totally wish caitlin was there, but i know she's having tons of fun in Prague drinking awesome beers everyday^-^

but all my fun was wieghed down by my stomach starting to hurt..gosh! it hurt so bad..i had to just sit down & i had to tell james and tell him i wanted to go home, :[

but other than that! it was a blast!

shiny kid's going away party was soo fun! but i was still so sad she was leaving..she's going to be gone forever! the via bip bop girls were there taking pictures, and so was mat. i had tons of fun..i'll never forget! i seriously haven't gotten that drunk in a long time. me & caitlin were in the laundry room talking forever, it was the best..i loved it

i'm having so much trouble trying to write new songs..i kinda want the new album to be called "Tummy Time" but i have no idea what kind of songs to write. my first one was all about mat and being away in hawaii..the next one was based around my friend crush caitlin<3 and now..i have no idea.

i told mat he should do something to make me real sad so i can make some more songs..becuase i'm best at writing when i'm real sad or depressed..and i'm actually kinda feeling that way right now while i'm drinking a modelo all alone without mat here..

anyways though! that party was so fun..i can't believe i was up on the counter top without falling in my heels! i was hanging onto the ceiling a lot and caitlin was holding me too, haha. i was taking big gulps from their drinks & it was soo stroong!! haha

i wish i could say so much more.

i found that picture on flickr! haha, i was trying to see who it was, but i have no idea.

the show i played friday night was so awesome! the free beer got to me real bad & i put a tummy toast tape in the tip jar since i didn't have any money. i think the guy appreciated it though. i loved it!

i sang on top of the loft & i could see the crowd dancing down below and with the visuals it looked awesome..i went to peek over and sing on the edge and i could see people pointing up at me, haha!

i wish i could've stayed longer though, i had to work the next day. i gave james & caitlin lots of kisses on the cheeks when i left.

i got a message from the boxing club telling me that they wanted me to play there again! i'm totally going to, i loved it there. i mentioned to them about us finding and place to have the GLAM JAM music video release party, and i asked me how we could get it there if we wanted, and they told me i could on the 17th!!!

i just need to let them know asap who'll play and stuff & i need to talk it over with caitlin later today so i can reply to them. i'm so excited!

i should be getting pictures from that show soon, jose told me he took some & he'll give them to me when he uploads them^-^

we shot video thursday night @ james' apartment for GLAM JAM. it was awesome, i got to dress up in totally new outfits & get make up done by caitlin. james was off to the side helping me out with dancing and caitlin was being an awesome director

mat took behind the scene pictures of the photoshoot we had last wednesday. we've been working hard on cutting out the greenscreen on photoshop so we haven't had a chance to update with them

it was a lot of fun. i was a little nervous at first, but then after my first sparks, i was good..then the next sparks..and the lonestar, i was real good!

i loved dressing up in all the outfits & getting posed & dressed and make-uped my james and caitlin, they're so awesome!

we're planning on recording tomorrow night, caitlin is coming over tonight so we can pick out outfits & lights and backgrounds.

speaking of videos, me and caitlin got together and brain stormed while listening to GLAM JAM over & over and we came up with such awesome ideas!

today, we're getting together at chris & andy's apartment to work on a dance routine & on wednesday we're going to have a photo shoot for GLAM JAM at james' apartment! everything is so awesome! and i totally can't wait!

yessss! i'm selling my tapes online! i haven't sold any in person. i gave james & caitlin a free tape, because james hooked us up with his stereo & caitlin hooked me up with inspiration. i wrote a nice little something in each of theirs for them.

NEWS! i'm in the possibilitites of making a zine with courtney! but i told her i'll probably be most creative when i'm drunky or tipsy, also because that's when i'm the most talkative. so it'll probably go down at the hype headz mansion one night~

i really wanted to get a blog, but i have so much that i put into my livejournal account, i don't know if i should just give it all up!

i made this blingee a couple of days ago, haha

last night mat and i made curry & watched star wars, we slept with the windows open & it was nice and cold, and he's sick now. we also worked on this 500 piece pizza puzzle. seeing the picture makes me crave pizza
